A Bit Of A Flash Fiction Catch Up
some of the writing I've been doing this week. All are from The Fiction Dealer's prompts
This popped into my head as I was waking up this morning!!!!
Woods – 80mg
As he wandered through the woods he pondered his new outfit. He'd thrown away the mop cap and wasn't sure about the blue gingham dress. It kept snagging on twigs and already was looking grubby. But he loved the long white apron with its large pockets. Ideal for filling with wild garlic and bluebells and later in the year with nuts and berries.
All in all the wolf was pleased with his acquisitions from Granny's this morning.

A Wanderer – 100mg
You sit alone as darkness descends. Wearily you check the backdoor, climb the stairs, do those things you have to do before crawling reluctantly into bed. You sleep but not quite. Always one ear cocked. Never fully enslumbered. The hours go by. You lie there dozing.
Was that the click of an opening? Was that the sound of footsteps descending?
You feel the depressing in the mattress. Within moments he is pressed against your chest. You reach out a hand to gentle stroke his contented, purring, curled up furry body. Tom cat has returned from his nocturnal wanderings.

The Chosen One – 100mg
The bundle of Pughasa puppies tumbled over and around each other in the large cardboard box as we cooed and sighed over them. A mix of browns and blonds and large sad eyes.
“Those two are males,” the owner said pointing to a small grey-brown one and a larger ligher more apricot coloured one.
At that point the apricot one did a flip, and I'm sure a wink, and tumbled over the side to land at my feet. We have been inseparable every since.
Which one of us chose? Him or me?

Final Moments – 80mg
She watched until the red tail lights winked as he slowed to take the corner and disappeared from sight. She paused for a few breaths of that balmy summer evening before going back inside to clear their coffee mugs from the floor, placing them in the sink with the rest of the detritus from their meal.
She wonders, as she sits alone on the patio, if she would have done things differently if she'd know the next part of their story.

And to finish another one about my dog but this time my 13 year old constant companion
Soul – 80mg
You have the soul of a small furry angel as you snore unrhythmically curled like an apricot comma on the couch blessing the start of my day. Though your days of scampering up mountains and playing ball continuously on the beach are no more still you hold my heart in your liquid brown eyes. Soon I'll wake you and we'll slowly circumnavigate the park and catch up with our friends.

A lovely way to spend the morning before I enter a busy weekend. Both my children, partners and dog are arriving from this afternoon for the long weekend so it should be fun but frantic, enjoyable and exhausting, of reminising and new rememberings. Another page added to our book of family
