I see myself and my daughter here, albeit a mirrored version. I feel as though she's giving up, and settling because she sees others around her that seem to know what they want. So she's in a hurry. But I'm telling her there's plenty of time to decide on a career. There's a whole world out there! The thing is I recognize the look in her eyes, she's always had her father's wonder lust. But I think she's afraid to trust it, and in that I have failed her.
I'm sure you haven't failed. I tried to put that into both my children; son is so settled I think he's older than I am, but Jodie's final words are something my daughter said to someone at a family funeral. Oh I was so proud. No matter what we pour in we never know how they will receive it
I keep thinking of writing more on the difficulties of parenting adult children
I'm sure you're right. And of course, she knows herself better than I can pretend to. So I just try to ask the right questions, and support her fully in her decisions. I certainly don't want to live my dreams through her. She has her own path to walk, and I am very proud of how she's navigating it🙏
Though I do think young people are fed a lot of fear about needing a career, house, car, partner rather than being encouraged to chase their dreams&find out who they really are.
I like it Diane! More people need to forge their own paths rather than follow what has come before them. We don't need more clones but individuals who seek growth and understanding.

This is a great story Diane!

Oh and you should definitely write more on parenting grown children! Damnit, I think it's tougher than when they were little!
Definitely agree.

Glad you're proud of her ❤️
This is a good philosophy.
