All good things of mice and men …. or as my spellchecker fancied “of mince and men”!! When I set up this Substack I promised myself I’d post highlighted editions of my memoir three times a week. Then I put together a plan and made it twice a week and once a week the flash fictions I do. And then I went on the memoir course and have been polishing and editing and whatevering over my memoir ever since! I’ve also been enjoying lovely walks in the park with my dog walking friends and wanderings on the beach just me and my dog
I did a Gretchen Rubin fun personality test whilst I was away on the memoir course and I came out as a rebel - someone who doesn’t follow anyone else’s schedules including their own, who wakes up in the morning and says “what do I fancy doing today?” - which I know the more I’ve become confident in who I am and got rid of some of those people pleasing issues, is who I am. But it does mean that if I set myself a plan, much as I love making the timetables, writing the lists, etc, I know I will not stick with it. And now I’m fine with it.
This year seems to be going faster than this time last year too. Last year felt like it was going really slowly uphill till it reach June then it rush off down to the end of the year. But this year feels like it is galloping along. I can’t say it is because I’m busy because I’m not. I’ve cut back more and more on what I do, am only seeing people I really want to be with - again letting go of the people pleasing, doing what I ought to do, stuff. So who knows what is going on.
As well as grappling with my memoir I am also doing The Fiction Dealer’s prompts occasionally. And this poem appeared from my pen the other morning and has been shared by my friend, Jane Evans, across her social media platforms.
Still sitting here
I walk away whilst still sitting here
Letting go of our petty squabble.
Gently close the door and
calmly climb the stairs.
Settle into that safe place deep within,
Let your storms blow themselves out
without need of my assistance,
As I sit quietly on the couch in peace.

There's another saying: "Time flies when you're having fun!" Enjoy your life - this is your Substack, so you get to post what and when you want, no matter what your timetable says. I tend to live in "dog time" myself - I never know where it goes! I love seeing your micro-dosing posts!
